*Athletics (Men), 5000m, final : Bekele wins a new Gold medal! Kenenisa Bekele (ETH) wins the race in 12:57.82, it's a new Olympic Record. Eliud Kipchoge (KEN) is 2nd and Cheruiyot Edwin Soi (KEN) is 3rd. The first 6 of the race are African.
*Athletics (Women), 1500m, final : One more medal for Kenya! Jebet Nancy Langat (KEN) wins the race in a great sprint (4:00.23).

*Athletics (Men), 800m Semi-finals : Africa will be under the spotlight during the 800m final on saturday since Alfred Kirwa Yego (KEN), Ismail Ahmed Ismail (SUD), Wilfred Bungei (KEN), Nabil Madi (ALG) and Nadjim Manseur (ALG) are qualified.
*Swimming (Men), 10km : The South African Chad Ho is ranked 9th of the final. The Egyptian Mohamed Monir is 20th. 25 swimmers took part to the race.

*Swimming (Women), 10km : The South African, Natalie Du Toit who is disabled, finished 16th. 25 swimmers participated to the race.
*Athletics : The president of the Republic, Paul Biya, has written an official telegrams congratulating Francoise Mbango Etone, after she won her gold medal. In the telegram, Paul Biya expressed his sincere satisfaction and that of the people of Cameroon for the honour that the triple jump Gaol Medallist has given to the nation.

*Athletics (Men), 200m : Brian Dzingai (ZIM) clinched final (20.17) ! Stephan Buckland is out.
*Football (Men) - Nigeria in final ! The Belgian team was defeated by Nigeria : 4-1 ! Nigerian goals scored by Olubayo Adefami (17'), Chinedu Ogbuke Obasi (59' and 72'), Chibuzor Okonkwo (78'). The final will be on Sunday against Argentina (which beat Brazil 3-0!)

*Athletics - 800m Women, final : 3 medals for Africa ! Pamela Jelimo (KEN) wins the gold medal recording a new junior world record in 1:54.87. Her comptriot Janet Jepkosgei Busienei (KEN) takes the silver. A bronze medal for Hasna Busienei : this is the first medal for Morocco!
*Athletics - 3 000m Men, final : As expected, a Kenyan runner become Olympic Champion : Brimin Kiprop Kipruto takes gold in 8:10.34 and his compatriot Richard Kipkemboi Mateelong is third.

*Athletics Men's 10 000m final : A gold and a silver medals for Ethiopia ! Kenenisa Bekele (ETH) becomes double 10 00m Olympic Champion. He won the race in 27:01.17 (new Olympic Record). He beat his compatriot Sileshi Sihine. Haile Gebrselassie (ETH) finished 6th.
*Athletics Women's Triple Jump : A gold medal for Cameroon ! Francoise Mbango Etone (CMR) keeps his Olympic title won in Athens with a jump at 15.39m. It's a new Olympic Record and a new African Record. It is also the 2nd best performance ever.
*Athletics Women's 400m semi-final: Amantle Montsho (BOT) finished 2nd of the semi-final 3 and clinched final. Her time : 50.54s
*Athletics Women's Marathon : A silver medal for Kenya ! Catherine Ndereba is the 2nd in the marathon in 2:27:06. Martha Komu (KEN) is 5th in 2:27:23
*Basketball (Women) : Mali was defeated by Spain : 79-47. Mali is eliminated.

*Athletics (Men) : 4 Africans are qualified for the long jump finale: Ngonidzashe Makusha (ZAM), winner of his heat (8,14 m), Khotso Mokoana (RSA, 8,14 m), the African Champion Ndiss Kaba Badji (SEN, 8,07 m) and Gable Garenamotse (BOT, 7,95 m).
*Football (Men) : The Ivory Coast was defeated by Nigeria. 2-0 for Nigeria which will be in finale. Goals scored by Peter Odemwingie (44e) and Victor Obinna (penalty).
*Football (Men) : Cameroon was defeated by Brazil... Brazil needed 30 extra minutes to see off a tricky Cameroon side and reach the Olympic semi-finals.

*Swimming (Women) : 2nd Gold Medal for Africa ! Kirsty Conventry (ZIM) wins the 200m backstroke in 2:05.24. It's a new world record. Coventry won 4 medals in these Olympic Games.
*Athletics (Women) : Françoise Mbango (CMR) clinched triple jump final with a leap of 14,50 at her first attempt. The final will be held on sunday.

*Athletics (Women): First Gold Medal for Africa ! Tirunesh Dibaba (ETH) wins the 10 000m in 29:54.66. Olympic and Africa Record
*Swimming (Women): The 19 African swimmers were eliminated in the first round of the women's 50m freestyle.
*Athletics (Men): Obinna Metu and Olusoji Fabusa from Nigeria and Aziz Zakari from Ghana will not be in semi-finals in the men's 100m. No more Africans in this athletics event.

*Canoe-Kayak (Men) : The Togolese Benjamin Boukpéti took bronze medal in the men's single kayak! Togo won its first ever Olympic medal!
*Badminton (Men) : The 3 Africans who played today lost their matches.
*Fencing (Men) : 5 African fencers lost in the first round of the men's individual sabre. The Senegalese Mamadou Keita was the only one to win but he lost in the second round against Dumitrescu (ROM).
*Swimming (Men) : Jean Basson (RSA) is 4th in the 200m freestyle finals in 1.45.87
* Swimming (Women) : 2nd silver medal for Kirsty Coventry (ZIM) in the 100m backstroke finals ! Time : 59.19. Qualification for the 200m medley final breaking the Olympic Record !
